Dr. Gray was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He is a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College and the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. He completed an additional three years of study as a Prosthodontic Resident at UAB School of Dentistry.
Dr. Gray has been on part-time faculty at the UAB School of Dentistry in the Comprehensive Care Department since 2007. He enjoys giving time and effort back to an institution that has been so personally influential. Presenting continuing education and collaborating with other dentists in the area keep him busy as well.
Continuing a Family Tradition Dr. Gray’s career as a prosthodontist carries on a proud family tradition of dental excellence that dates back nearly 60 years.
Dr. Gray’s father, Jordan Gray, is the founder and owner of Gray Dental Laboratory, a local facility that he has operated for more than 30 years. Jordan fabricates many types of dental restorations by hand, including veneers, aesthetic crowns, implant prosthesis, and hybrid alloy bars. Dr. Gray enjoys working closely with his father and the high-quality products from his laboratory.
Dr. Gray states that “such a close working relationship with my father and constant reliable laboratory support is a tremendous blessing and makes me a better dentist.”
Additionally, Dr. Gray’s grandfather, John R. Gray, D.M.D., was a member of the first graduating class from the UAB School of Dentistry in 1952. John R. Gray worked intimately with UAB in the 1960s to help pioneer four-handed dentistry. He also owned a private dental practice for 35 years in the Eastwood area of Birmingham.
