Dr. Dan Nathanson is Professor and Chair, Department of Restorative Sciences & Biomaterials at Boston University, a post-doctoral department including 4 sections of: Advanced Prosthodontics, AEGD, Advanced Operative Dentistry & Esthetics Program, and Biomaterials .
He received his dental degree from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel and completed postdoctoral training in restorative dentistry and dental materials at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Forsyth Institute in Boston. He also received a specialty certificate in prosthodontics and a Master’s degree in public health from Boston University.
In addition to his academic position he also maintains a part time practice limited to prosthodontics in Boston.
Past President of the International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry, Prof. Nathanson is also past president of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, Fellow in the Academy of Prosthodontics, and the Academy of Dental Materials. Other memberships include the American College of Prosthodontists, the International association for Dental Research (Past President, Boston Chapter, and Immediate Past President of Prosthodontic Research Group). Dr. Nathanson is currently the President Elect of the Society for Color and Appearance in Dentistry (SCAD).
With a primary research interest in restorative and prosthetic materials, Dr. Nathanson has co-authored a text on Esthetic Dentistry, and published numerous articles, over 250 research abstracts, and a number of textbook chapters. He is also a member on 7 Editorial Boards. His current research involves new materials and technologies for fixed prosthodontics, resin restoratives, and dental cements.
